Welcome to the Business Law Virtual Spring Meeting!

A Virtual Welcome from the Business Law Section Chair, Jeannie C. Frey

Dear Colleagues:

Welcome to the first ABA Business Law Section Virtual Spring Meeting! Section meetings have always been an opportunity for business law practitioners and thought leaders around the world to connect and collaborate. Since the pandemic and related public health concerns currently prevent us from meeting in person, we have developed an engaging virtual format providing topical content and networking opportunities to business law attorneys and other professionals at all stages of practice (including law students!) and practice settings. All CLE programs will be recorded and available for on-demand credit after the meeting to meeting registrants. I encourage you to take advantage of everything the meeting has to offer.

Attendees of the Virtual Spring Meeting can expect the same high-quality experience of any in-person Business Law Section meeting in an immersive online platform.

Highlights of the meeting include:

  • Showcase Programs covering timely legal issues:
    • 2020 Hindsight and the General Counsel's New Normal: How COVID-19 and Social Justice Issues Have Changed In-House Counsel and What They Expect of Outside Counsel
    • The Pandemic and Its Lasting Impact on the Deal Environment: How the Pandemic is Shaping M&A and Business Restructurings
    • Confronting and Managing Difficult Situations: Leadership in the Time of Crisis
    • The Data Dilemma: Regulating the Lifeblood of Fintech Innovation
    • Diversifying Corporate Governance Institutions: Who Should Be at the Table?
  • Over 70 CLE webinars with interactive Q&A opportunities;
  • Remarks from Keynote Speaker, Sandra Phillips Rogers, Group Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer and Chief Diversity Officer of Toyota Motor North America, Inc.;
  • Over 100 committee and subcommittee meetings featuring substantive discussions on relevant trends in your practice area; and
  • Special events designed to allow attendees to network with judges, in-house counsel, academics, private practitioners, law students, and other business law professionals from around the world.

I’m looking forward to five outstanding days of learning, networking, and collaboration. I hope to see you virtually during the Meeting!

Sincerely,

Jeannie C. Frey

Bishop Arts

The hip Bishop Arts District is known for its diverse nightlife, chic independent fashion stores and colorful street art. Dining choices range from Texas-style BBQ to Vietnamese pho, while relaxed bars pour everything from cocktails to house-brewed cider. Cult movies are the draw at the Texas Theatre, while the art deco Kessler Theater presents live music by local and national bands.

Deep Ellum

The lively Deep Ellum entertainment district is known for its vibrant street murals, quirky art galleries and long-time concert venues for indie and blues. Brewpubs, cocktail bars and Tex-Mex eateries draw a boisterous crowd on weekends, while edgy, experimental drama dominates the program at the time-tested Undermain Theatre, in a warehouse basement.

Fair Park

Located just two miles east of Downtown Dallas, Fair Park is a National Historic Landmark that boasts one of the nation’s largest collections of 1930s art and Art Deco architecture. The 277-acre campus is home to the State Fair of Texas, Hall of State, Cotton Bowl Stadium, an outdoor amphitheater, Music Hall, museums, and hundreds of events every year.

Oak Lawn

Oak Lawn is an upscale district known for Cedar Springs Road home to the Dallas Pride Parade. It is lined with lively bars and DJ-driven clubs, as well as venues for karaoke, drag shows, and country and western dancing. Popular hiking and bike trails run alongside nearby Turtle Creek and cut through green spaces like Oak Lawn Park, home to the stately Arlington Hall events venue.

Victory Park

Urban Victory Park is anchored by the American Airlines Center, a multi-use arena that hosts big-name concerts, and is home to the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science displays dinosaur skeletons and has interactive exhibits including a robot arena. A vibrant dining scene offers stylish steakhouses and modern Mexican, while nightlife covers sports bars and sleek cocktail lounges.

West End

Part of Downtown, the West End is known for sites commemorating former president JFK. The 6th floor of the Dealey Plaza is now a museum about the president, and the nearby John F.
